EACC through lawyer Danstan Omari to Sue EACC commisioners, bosses over Ant- Oparanya Remarks

Former Kakamega governor and a cabinet secretary nominee to sue EACC commissioners for associating him with corruption.

According to the letter written by his lawyer, Danstan Omari is that, Oparanya was nominated to serve as a cabinet secretary for co-operatives and micro, small, and medium development.

Omari also stated that the EACC, through their chief executive officer, twalib Mbarak, wrote a letter dated 29th July 2024 to the clerk
of the national assembly expressing reservations of the nomination of his client who is due for vetting on 4th August 2024.

EACC claimed to have conducted investigations against the former governor and submitted the report to the director of public prosecution recomending his his prosecution. However, they failed to disclose constitutional implications on the fact that on 25th July 2024, the office of director of public prosecution wrote to the EACC, withdrawing their decision to charge Oparanya.

Oparanya, through his lawyer, is now demanding the EACC to retract the communication to the clerk of the national assembly dated 29th July 2024 with immediate effect.
