In a recorded video from his hotel, Wycliffe Oparanya, the former Kakamega Governor, has acknowledged the authenticity of the viral photos featuring him and his partner Mary Biketi.

However, he expressed confusion regarding the motive behind the leak.

“It’s true that the photos are real and not photoshopped. I don’t understand the intentions why they were leaked to the media. I have a big family that I have to protect and this is a matter that should be in private.” The governor said in a statement that could be read to affirm his relationship with younger Biketi as his wife.

Oparanya’s statement coincides with the lady’s post on her Facebook on Sunday after the initial leak. Many are now reading the coincidence as a way of the two to coming out in public to confirm their relationship.

Oparanya in his statement has alluded to a blackmail scheme by unnamed persons who leaked the photos to the media.

Biketi posted on her Facebook page the video of Oparanya addressing the leaked photos. The two would appear to be together in a hotel in Nyali.
