Inside Scoop: Behind the Scenes of Sonko’s Interview on Obinna Live Show

Mike Sonko

Mike Sonko, the ex-Nairobi Governor, sparked online buzz when his live interview on the Obinna show topped the charts for two consecutive days following the Monday broadcast.

The interview that went viral is part of the reason the Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) has promptly come up with the decision demanding YouTube content creators obtain a practicing license.

During the show, Sonko lamented on how he was illegally impeached, his fight with cartels, and why leading Nairobi as governor is a delicate balancing act.

The Sonko Interview has attracted nearly half a million views in two days, the highest in the same period for any Kenyan content on the YouTube platform.

KFCB has consequently flagged Obinna and several other artists for not having filming licenses, a move that has attracted public outcry.

This comes at a time when the US government and Kenya have agreed on a shared partnership in the promotion of digital content and the creation of more jobs through the use of technology.

“This is rubbish. Oga Obinna doesn’t need a license from you for his Youtube channel—just like no one needs a license to post on Instagram, Facebook, or Xspaces,” former Raila aide Miguna Miguna condemned KFCB.

Comedian Mulamwa has also been flagged over the same.
