Landmark Verdict Expected as Jowie Faces Sentencing in Monica Kimani Murder Case

  • Public Awaits Jowie’s Sentencing in High-Profile Monica Kimani Murder Case

Joseph Irungu, commonly known as Jowie, is set to face sentencing today in connection with the murder of businesswoman Monica Nyawira Kimani.

The highly anticipated sentencing comes after a lengthy trial and recent postponements in the legal proceedings.

The verdict is scheduled to be delivered at around 11am today.

The sentencing was initially set for Friday, March 8th but was postponed due to various reasons, including the late submission of crucial documents and a change in Jowie’s legal representation.

Last month, the High Court judge Juctice Grace Nzioka found Joseph Irungu guilty of the murder of Monica Kimani, who was brutally killed in her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi on the night of September 19, 2018.

The court ruled that the prosecution had provided sufficient evidence to establish Jowie’s culpability beyond a reasonable doubt.

Former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who was charged alongside Jowie in connection with the murder, was acquitted of the murder charge by the court. The judge ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a case against her.
